The Garden Design Process
Initial Consultation
I will visit you to see your garden and discuss what you would like to achieve. The more information you can provide at this stage the better, as it will help me to create a design that’s just right for you. I will follow up this meeting by sending you a Brief to ensure that we are both on the same page with what you would like.
Site Survey
Before beginning the design, a full survey of your garden is essential to provide the technical details. This may be carried out by me or a surveyor, depending on the size and complexity of the garden.
Concept Design
I will produce a concept design based on our agreed Brief. We will discuss this to make any necessary alterations.
At this stage - depending on your budget, skills, and size of garden - you may decide to create your garden independently. Alternatively, you may wish to benefit from my Full Design service to refine the design and build your garden to the highest standard with minimal stress.
Full Design
We will review the concept plan - noting any necessary revisions - and explore different options for hard landscaping. I will then create a Detailed Outline Plan, which includes all the relevant details for your new garden.
Technical Drawings
I will create Construction and Setting Out Drawings. These include all the necessary technical details to ensure the garden can be built with absolute precision.
Planting Plans
Using my wealth of horticultural knowledge to craft beautiful combinations that guarantee year-round interest and striking displays, I create scaled planting plans detailing the layout of all the plants. I also provide a Plant schedule for ordering from a nursery.
Depending on the size of garden, I will position the plants and am sometimes involved in planting.
Tender
I can recommend skilled contractors, and/or manage the tender package for you.
I produce relevant documentation - the Scope of Works and Health and Safety documents - which, alongside the Detailed Outline Plan, Construction drawings, and Planting plans allows Landscape contractors to quote accurately and fairly.
Design Monitoring
I offer Design Monitoring during the build so that I am on hand for any necessary design tweaks and to iron out any issues that may arise. Your garden should be built to the exacting standards of the design we have agreed, and I am very happy to work alongside the Landscape contractors to ensure that this is achieved.
The cost is extremely flexible depending on the services you require, as well as the size and complexity of your garden, but please use the figures below as a starting point.
Prices for a Concept Design start at £1200
